My passion for photography began as a teen in the late 1980’s. During my career (using the term loosely) I’ve done a variety of photography; weddings, portraits, macro, etc. My specialty was in nature photography. One of my early jobs was selling cameras. I worked in photo labs while pursuing my dream to become a professional nature photographer. I loved the wild, whether it be grand landscapes or the intimate details of a wild flower. I would photograph what was around me and what I was given. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit some truly magnificent locations.
When I could not realize my goal to make photography my profession, I walked away. After walking away I obtained a degree and a desk job. Other ventures came and went. For a long time I stopped taking photos altogether. It was rare you’d see me taking cell phone pictures.
Recently my wife and I have experienced a major life change. We’re empty nesters. With the extra time (and finances) I decided to dust off my old images that were nearly discarded and pursue photography again. Many things in my life have changed, but my passion for photography hasn’t. In the time I’ve spent away from photography I’ve changed. The way I see things has changed. I no longer just pursue images of nature and wildlife, I find inspiration in all the places we travel. I have learned that the world is beautiful; make all of it your canvas.
